Welcome to mbctalk,
Pfizer's corona vaccine has begun to be used in the United States. Modern vaccines are also expected to receive regulatory approval soon. Both vaccines are claimed to be 95% effective and safe.
However, persuading the elderly to be vaccinated is
proving challenging for the US Department of Health.
A
member of the advisory committee that approved the vaccine also said that the
vaccine should not be given to the elderly. Committee member Dr. Helen Kip
Talbot believes that only emergency use of the vaccine has been approved.
It
is not usually tested the way the vaccine is tested. However, according to
other experts on the committee, the vaccine is safe and the elderly should not
be alarmed by the vaccine.
Emergency permits raised fears among half of the Americans
The vaccine is not currently a regular permit but an emergency permit, which is feared by half of Americans. According to a survey by Virginia Commonwealth University, only 46.9% of people said they would definitely take the vaccine.
Approximately 60% of people are willing to take a dose of the vaccine if it
gets regular permission.
